Book Writing/Publishing Bio

My writing and publishing experience has provided me with many valuable personal contacts and connections in the book industry. These include literary agents, literary agents for children’s books, book editors for authors such as Tom Robbins, niche market publishers and publishers at the yearly National Book Expo. Not only can I provide insight and understanding of the book-publishing industry as it is today, but also access to many industry resources through these contacts.

Taught writing courses and gave group presentations at State University of New York at Southampton: “Writing Non-Fiction On Any Subject” and “Promoting Your Book.” Coaching and consulting with individuals and groups on writing memoirs, children’s books, poetry, art books and motivational-inspirational books. Member, Friends of the Westhampton Library, and helped the group create East End program: “Celebrating the Written Word.” Workshop founder/presenter, “Memoir/Life-Writing” with a Westhampton Beach bookstore (The Open Book) and Memoir/Life-Writing Workshop Series and Showcases for Town of Southampton, Senior Centers. Co-authored series of “Do It Write Booklets” sponsored by New York City banks and series of materials on “How to Market Your Practice” for a national pharmaceutical company. Orchestrated hugely successful public relations campaign for Hamptons event featuring best-selling author Jodi Picoult.

Responsible for developing the business model for Pine Barrens Publishing of the Hamptons, www.pinebarrenspublishing.com, which included overseeing design and construction of page elements, writing/editing website materials, fee structure and promotion campaign. Articles have been published in several newspapers such as “Writing Your Life Story” and “Memoirists Show How to Unlock the Doors of Creativity… For Any Age.”

Among the books that I have guided with concept, structure and flow through ghost-writing and/or marketing/public relations campaigns for a wide variety of authors is: “15 Ways to Zap a Bully,” “In Sickness and In Health: A Memoir,” “LifeSavors,” “Remembering While I Can Still Remember,” “The Tyranny of Landscaping” by the Barefoot Gardener, “Just Give Me A Minute” by the Executive Director of the Board of Rabbis, “Me and Georgia O’Keeffe” art book and a series of children’s books on adoption. Many of these projects also required developing book proposals for presentation to literary agents and/or publishers. Also presently assisting autism group with a fundraising strategy that entails developing a book accompanied by a special doll.

In addition, was recently selected as one of five people to write and present “The Fifteen-Minute Play” for well regarded Guild Hall in East Hampton. Also founder/organizer of “The Business Book Club,” which helps business and self-employed entrepreneurs gain motivation, information and insights through discussions and conversations about best-selling business books. The goal is to grow their businesses by exploring issues and concerns related to today’s economy.

Author of “The Woman’s Business Therapist: Eliminate the MindBlocks and Roadblocks to Success.” Conducted an 18-month book tour with book signings, speaking engagements and promotional presentations throughout the United States. Spoke at numerous Barnes and Noble stores across the country as well as many women’s national- and state-organization conferences and meetings. Coordinated and managed most of the publicity, speaking opportunities and extensive media coverage utilizing more than 25 years of personal marketing/public-relations agency experience. A revised and updated version of my book, entitled “BusinessWomen on Top…Uncovering the Secrets to Success,” is due out later this year.
